Get the Social Networking Facts about Twitter Suspended Accounts

Have you experienced this unfortunate event? You have some great news or tips about your business that you want to tell all your Twitter followers only to find this message:

twitter - suspended account notice

You are not alone. Several, if not many, SEO firms, HR departments and other people have experienced suspended Twitter accounts in the past several weeks.

However, after a little investigating and navigating the tedious Twitterease rules and regulations, we found TwitterWatchDog. The folks at TwitterWatchDog,
Skeeter Hansen and Al Ferretti, were kind enough to provide easy to read and understand social networking facts about why your Twitter account might be suspended.

Social Networking Facts about Suspended Twitter Accounts:

User Abuse: A large number of people block the profile or write in with spam complaints.

Aggressive following: Using programs out there that claim to get you 1000’s of follow in just days could get you suspended. Just remember quality is better then quantity. (You probably know these programs already.)

Misuse of the reply feature: I haven’t heard of anyone getting suspended for this but it’s on the list of things not to do. (Replying to many Twitters is a bad feature? Who knew?)

Updates consist of duplicate links and/or text: Sending out the same tweet over and over again can get you suspended. You will also lose all your followers doing this. We wonder about those automatic tweet software programs and their value.

Stealing: Updates poached from others’ timelines, passed off as one’s own. Putting your own spin on a tweet will keep you safe.

Technical Abuse: Updates consist of links pointing to phishing sites, malware, or other harmful material. Social networking facts for any type of online social media.

Multiple Accounts: A large number of accounts is created in a short amount of time. You can have more then one account just don’t create several in a short time. Create a couple a day over the course of a week or more, so you don’t risk suspension. Good info for Web development and SEO firms.

Spam: An account is identified as belonging to a spam cluster. Have you noticed the influx of adult oriented Twitter accounts or followers recently? Don’t just block these followers, but report them too.
