Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Word has it that there’s another social networking site lurking in the shadows. This time it’s being created by the founders of Twitter, and it’s dubbed as the Lift.

The slogan is: Achieve Anything. There’s an actual site already created where users can insert their name and E-mail to receive notification when the site is officially up and running. Like Google+, it looks like you need an invitation to join.

Have You Switched Your HubPages Account to a Sub-domain Yet?

Friday, August 26th, 2011

If you haven’t heard by now, all Hubbers’ accounts need to be switched to customized subdomains.

Why you ask? The company gives two reasons.

1. Having your blogs in a personal sub-domain may help your traffic as the collective online reputation of your Hubs will be able to stand on its own and be judged by Google’s search algorithm individually (as opposed to being judged along with everyone else’s work)

2. With a personalized sub-domain, you’ll be better equipped to develop a personal Online brand.

Visit the sub-domain chooser section of your account and complete the shift.

For more information on the subdomain shift, visit HubPages official Learning Center entry.

Would You Watch a Movie on Facebook?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

It didn’t take long for Facebook to add a new feature to appeal to the movie buff in us.

We already spend countless hours playing around on the social networking site wasting our day, now thanks to the partnership with Miramax, how many more hours will be sucked out of us?

Miramax announced on its blog that it’s partnering with Facebook to launch Miramax Experience, an app that will allow users worldwide to watch movie clips and feature-length films from the studio.

Movies Will Soon Be Available on Facebook

Movies Will Soon Be Available on Facebook

The company goes on to say that there are over 50 million friends on Facebook that mention a Miramax film in their profile, interact with the Miramax page or like the fan pages of Miramax titles and talent like Good Will Hunting,  Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino and more.

The Miramax App is going to offer consumers an experience where they can play games and share their thoughts and feedback with their friends within the Facebook community.

There will even be Facebook Credits and Connect to make it easier to use the service.

Is this partnership annoying, or genius? What’s Facebook’s next trick up its sleeve to get us to spend our entire day surfing their site?

Doesn’t matter. We’re going to check out the new feature, which ultimately, is exactly the intended goal.
